Schools
Whether or not you have a child in Baltimore City Public Schools, good schools are important to our communities and every resident in the city. Good schools can attract families to a neighborhood and boost property values, while poorly performing schools can exacerbate the cycle of disinvestment and population loss.
The message we give to our young people is to stay off the street corners, stay in school, go to college, get a good job, and give back to your community. If that message is really intended to work, the possibilities for it to succeed start in the home and at school. As President Obama said in his 2010 State of the Union address, “. . .one of the best anti-poverty programs is a world-class education.”
